  1. I really feel this is true about what is fair in a family. As parents we do not give out equal. We give what is best or most needed to each child, which isn’t necessarily the same.

    But, in government and economics I feel quite differently. I don’t want the government to parent me. I want to earn what I am worth and help others because I want to or ask for help if and when I need it.

    Just the definition of “fair” is so skewed I don’t know if we can agree on it at all. But just or justice should be blind and that is the kind of government I want. One that will not punish or reward, but instead provide safety and stability enough, an equally just space for us to care for ourselves.
